Through Oklahoma Panhandle
Destination Dumas, TX
The roads are bad. I don't know when they were last repaved but I'm sure it wasn't recently. Someone told me it's like 45 minutes of driving through hell. If that is what hell is like, I don't want to go there!
Finally, a sign for Texas!
Entering Texas there are signs that say "severe crosswinds". Yes, there are! I don't enjoy driving in wind and consider it just as bad as a tractor trailer passing me perhaps worse.
I have never seen so many "wind farms". The roads are hilly, no trees, just fields of nothing for MILES. Small towns and cities are approximately 20 to 30 miles apart, sometimes more. The only signs of life are other drivers who pass me and become little dots on the road ahead. Although this is beautiful country, I wasn't really enjoying it. Would someone suggest to Texas about building some more rest stops (at the very least) along the way? To Texas' credit, there were a few "picnic areas" along the way but no facilities. Glad I tow my own! Who can relate to this?
Radio reception is spotty unless you are a fan of country music. I'm a 50s and 60s type of gal. Yes, my truck (aka Big Daddy) has a CD player, it's a mystery on how to get it to work.

Hookup for electric both 30 & 50 amp, didn't see their water or sewer hookups. There is a playground there with a few picnic tables and barbeques. If you don't like the sound of trains, this place is not for you. I was so tired that I really didn't notice.
More to come!
